Network Marketing Opportunities Galore! "Look Before You Leap"!

So you've decided you want to start your own business. Be sure you research network marketing opportunities before jumping in. If you've been looking for a business opportunity, you may be overwhelmed by all of the choices out there. You may have even been approached by someone involved in a company that appeals to you. Try your best not to get caught up in their excitement and make an emotional decision. Remember, if you are truly wanting a business rather than a hobby, you want to make good business decisions.

I'll try to discuss some of the main questions to ask about the different network marketing opportunites you may be considering and help you figure out how you can find some of the answers. The most important thing to do is to make an informed decision.

Something to keep in mind: If you feel like someone is trying hard to "convince" you that the opportunity they are offering you is a good one - ask yourself if the opportunity is something you'd have to "convince" someone else about. Starting a new business can be stressful enough, without the added stress of trying to twist people's arms. And remember, there are more than enough network marketing opportunities to go around...choose the one that's the best fit for you!

Just to get your wheels turning, here is a list of a few things I recommend looking at before making your decision while researching the different network marketing opportunities.

Questions To Ask When Researching Network Marketing Opportunities

1) How long has the company been around?

2) What is the financial state of the company? Debt-free is the ideal of course.

3) Is becoming a distributor affordable to start?

4) Is remaining an active distributor affordable to maintain?

5) Do you earn commission on the very 1st person you sponsor personally? If not, when do commissions start, and is that acceptable to you?

6) How far down your line can you earn commissions?

7) Is the product/service something you feel comfortable promoting?

8) Is the product consumable?

9) Is the product/service something a LOT of people are looking for and use?

10) Is the product something you have to teach people how to use – and can you teach them? (Or are you willing to)?

11) What is the market like for that particular product?

12) Is the philosophy of the company leaders one that you can align yourself with?

13) Are there minimum monthly or quarterly ordering requirements to maintain?

14) Is the person you are considering as your team leader willing and able to provide you with appropriate training?

15) What are the ways of making income with the company? Can you really build your business in a way that you feel comfortable?

16) Is the distributor cost compared to the retail price profitable enough for you?

17) Does the company’s main marketing plan revolve around distributor personal orders? The more you buy – the more commissions you qualify for? Do you have to ‘buy your way to the top’?

18) What are other distributors in that company saying?

Where to Find Answers

Some of the research on about 40 plus companies has been done by a fellow SBI! (Site Build It!) member. Read about this new resource  here.

Here are some more "obvious" places to look for answers regarding network marketing opportunities. If you surf the web much at all, I'm sure you're familiar with Yahoo! and Google...go online and see what information you can find.

Sometimes you can find some helpful information from other people who have experienced the company you are considering. Places like Yahoo Answers or Google Groups are sites that you can actually post a specific question and get some very helpful feedback (sometimes). Remember to keep your sensor on as you read the answers you get - it is the world wide web afer all...looney toons use the internet too!

Also, keep in mind that you're likely to find some disgruntled distributors (past or present). It doesn't necessarily mean the company is a bad choice for you. Consider what others have to say, and use your good judgement about whether it's a real company issue or just a personal issue.

Direct Selling Association (http://dsa.org/) may also have some information on the company you are researching. (Not having information listed with DSA is not an automatic negative thing).

The actual company themselves is another good resource for information. Remember the numerous network marketing opportunities out there and know that the company literature is trying to sell themselves to you. Keep your head about you, ask questions, and don't fall for hype filled claims with no real substance.
